We invite submissions to the Workshop on Complex Systems in Biological Growth and Morphogenesis, to be held from May 21–23, 2025, in Bordeaux, France. This workshop aims to bring together researchers from applied mathematics, physics, biology, and engineering to explore recent advances in understanding biological growth and morphogenesis, with a focus on multi-scale interactions, self-organization of living matters, and emergent behaviors in complex biological systems.
Biological growth processes span multiple spatial and temporal scales, integrating mechanical, biochemical, and thermodynamic principles. Understanding these processes requires insights from theoretical modeling, computational methods, and experimental approaches. This workshop will provide a platform for interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations, addressing challenges in tissue growth and morphogenesis, pattern formation, and coupling between mechanics, biochemical signaling, and statistical physics.
Topics of Interest
Submissions are invited on a range of topics, including but not limited to:
• Growth and deformation of tissue in solid and fluid mechanics
• Multi-scale interactions in biomechanics and biochemical signaling in growth process
• Nonlinear dynamics and self-organization in biological systems
• Computational and mathematical modeling of tissue growth and morphogenesis
• Theoretical approaches to biological learning and adaptation
• Non-equilibrium thermodynamics and statistical mechanics in biological systems
• Applications in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and disease modeling
Submission Categories
– Long papers (not previously published work) (12 pages)
– Short papers (not previously published work) (8 pages)
– Extended abstracts (about published or unpublished research) (2 to 4 pages)
Important Dates
– Submission Deadline: March 20, 2025
– Notification of Acceptance: March 26, 2025
– Author Registration: April 17, 2025
– Workshop Dates: May 21–23, 2025
Submission Guidelines
The submission guidelines valid for the workshop are the same as for the FRCSS conference.
They can be found at https://iutdijon.u-bourgogne.fr/ccs-france/submissions/
Paper Acceptance and Proceedings Inclusion
All accepted papers will be presented at the workshop. However, their inclusion in the official conference proceedings is contingent upon a final quality assessment conducted by the conference organizers.
– Long Papers (12 pages) and Short Papers (8 pages):
These papers may be included in the proceedings, provided they pass the final quality check. If a paper does not meet the publication standards, it will still be accepted for presentation at the workshop but will not be included in the proceedings. In such cases, authors may opt to submit an extended abstract for inclusion in the Book of Abstracts.
– Extended Abstracts:
Extended abstracts will not undergo review for proceedings inclusion but will be automatically published in the Book of Abstracts.
Authors will receive separate notifications regarding the final status of their paper in the proceedings. For any
inquiries, please contact the workshop organizers.
